Calling Community Artists
 

URW recognizes the depth and vibrancy of Jamaica and Greater Queens.  This is why we are opening Terminal 8 at JFK to your art, your stories, and the heart of our neighborhoods. We are seeking true reflections of our community; art that speaks to both locals, and global travelers, reminding them of the world they step into when they land in NYC. We want the airport to feel like home, we’re calling on you. 

 

Each artist selected will each receive a stipend to produce their work in a curated exhibit to be printed and displayed in the terminal. To learn more about the showcase, visit www.vaughnbentleycreative.com . All artists must review submission guidelines before submitting their work.

Overview
This is a paid Opportunity from JFK T8 for a seasonal artist showcase. URW recognizes the depth and vibrancy of Jamaica, and Greater Queens.  This is why we will be presenting your art, your stories, and the heart of our neighborhoods within terminal 8 at JFK.
 

We are seeking true reflections of our community; art that speaks to both locals and global travelers, reminding them of the world they step into when they land in NYC. We want the airport to feel like home, to make that happen we’re calling on you.

Three artist will be selected to have their original artwork reproduce in large scale where work will be placed on large temporary walls along the corridor in the terminal. The showcase will be running for a period of approximately three months. The selected artist will each receive a $1200.00 stipend.
 
Guidelines and Eligibility
*  NYC-based artists are encouraged to apply
* Artist must be 18yrs or older
* Must be Artists original work
* One submission per applicant
* Multiple applications will not be accepted
* The selected artist will be required to sign an agreement stating the artwork accepted is their original work.

 

Timeline:
* Open Call Dec 14th 2023-Jan 19th 2024
* Selected Artist Notified beginning of February.
* Installation TBD

* Artist Statement 500 words max
* Include full name, address, email and phone number
* Submit 5-10 images
* Description list matching images Title, Medium and Size
* No Screen Shots
* High Resolution Scan/ High quality photos of artwork
* PDF, JPEG, PNG or shared permission drive link
* 1 PDF file preferred
* CV if Applicable
